It's Sobeys, what can really be said? Great prices for sale items but I'd shop around otherwise. Would have given a better rating if the convenience store section wasn't always so slow to get service. A single person running both customer service and convenience doesn't allow for prompt service.
Convenient location as it's the only large grocery retailer in the area. Ample parking is available. The store is usually well stocked however prices are on the higher end. Small seafood section, nice deli and prepared food sections. There are always rotating sales so if you can wait it's worth while to wait until your product is on sale.
Pretty good selection of gluten-free items, if you need that kind of thing. Pretty good hot sauce selection. And they carry Pic-a-Pop now, if you like your sugar water nostalgically themed (as I do). Not uncommon for there to be errors at the till. Staff are generally friendly but not always well-trained. Specials can be good but overall the prices aren't great.
Last week, I witnessed a woman, ahead of me in line at customer service, behaving in the most ridiculous manner. She was your typical let me speak to the manager type and was irritated about something that was completely beyond the control of the employee. What I saw was the most impressive display of diplomacy that you could hope for by an employee in his position. The way that he handled her was exceptional and he should be commended for his professionalism.
Have not bought a cake from a Sobeys I'm years but I have to say the service was great, the cake was done early which was very nice as we were on a time crunch and ha don't ordered the day before. The cake tasted awesome, the icing was prefect. Just enough and not to sweet.
