My wife and I had some time to kill in Winnipeg on a stopover to Brandon so we went to the zoo yesterday. What a pleasure. The last time we were there was 13 years ago and the transformation since then is stunning. It was amazing to see the polar bears playing and the beautiful tiger walking and roaring. Everything in the park was super clean and its a nice twist that its a none smoking Zoo. Keep up the good work and Ill look forward to see if an Africa section will show up in the future. Worth every dollar for a visit.
Really nice zoo with a good selection of animals to see. The enclosures are very elaborate and where appropriate very spacious. The highlight is definitely the journey to Churchill exhibit featuring animals from northern Manitoba. They have about 11 polar bears as of this review. They are mostly rescued animals too so thats a plus. Good education center and lots of friendly volunteers with lots of info to share.
I took my 3.5 year old daughter here and it was so much fun! We barely got to see half the zoo in the 3 hours we we're there! They were also celebrating the red panda, and had lots of fun festivities and learning experiences. I had no idea they had a butterfly garden or an Australian outback walk-through. So awesome! When our legs got tired, they even had a free shuttle tour. There were so many animals to see and lots we're out and about! We even passed by a few peackocks walking around freely. I was definitely impressed with the Tundra restaurant as they had quite a few gluten free and tasty options! I think I will look into getting a membership here!! Oh and they have a giant insect exhibition worth checking out right now that's included in admission. SO MUCH TO SEE!!!
An alright zoo overall, but the Polar Bear exhibit: A MUST SEE! Cannot begin to describe the smile on my face seeing the polar bears swim overhead... Brings a child-like sense of wonder to anyone in the underwater tunnel. The seals and bears playing around in the water made it an unforgettable visit.
The Journey to Churchill was fun! Polar bears and the seals are almost close to each other. The polar bear loves to empress the people especially the kids. :) Lots of animals in a little zoo. They have butterfly garden too. The entrance is a little pricey. We spent almost 3 hours but we havent seen the whole zoo. Great place for kids and kids at heart who loves animals.
