I want to give more stars, but since the renovations about 5 or 6 years ago, The Riverstone is consistently "ok". Some of the good therapists have left, the physical spaces and lockers need some TLC, and the snack quality is lacking a bit. Pricing is still fair, and it's never been easier to make a reservation here.
Massage was great! Some people do not respect the quiet zone. Change room is way too hot and humid to get ready in, literally could not blowdry my hair it was that humid in there.
I have had good massages by 3 different RMT here, the staff are very professional and make you feel relaxed and welcomes. They could do better with their snack selection. The chairs they have in the waiting room are not comfortable which is why I am giving them the rating I am. I also agree that they should have pump shampoo and conditioner as someone on here mentioned.
I removed my 5 star review where I had plenty of great things to say about Riverstone. This has been my best friend and I's go-to spa for years. The facility is lovely and cozy. I've preferred it over other highly-populated public spa's. The amenities are great, and Cheryl S. was by far the best RMT I've ever experienced. Hence, my original 5 stars.Based off of how their management has "reacted" to a situation I came to them with - I will NEVER go back to this spa, again. My best friend; who had no problem spending $100's annually on herself or for gift cards, will also not be supporting this business any longer. I called about concerns of pain I had almost 2 weeks after my appointment. Their receptionist was apologetic and genuinely offered ways to soothe my neck, (ie: Japanese mint oil, hot packs, baths, etc.) I appreciated her care when listening to my concern. She told me her manager will call me the next day. When we spoke, I explained I had a headache, I could not stretch my neck and I was in pain every day since. Even though I remember the exact moment in the massage where my neck was turned the wrong way, she then proceeded to explain to me how massages work, that I need to drink enough water, the surgery i had from over a decade ago and that its normal to have a headache up to 3 days later was the reason why I was still feeling sore. I stated to her that "the way my neck feels isn't normal." I felt as though she condescendingly told me that the pain i am experiencing after my massage was not their concern, but my own problem. She told me to speak to my doctor and then call back. No apologies for my experience, just defending herself and the RMT. I was at a loss for words at the end of our conversation. I'm not sure if people unaware of the after effects of massage therapy call and complain of pain after massages frequently, but this wasn't usual for me. I have had many massages, and never have experienced what I felt. After seeing my doctor, the next manager i spoke to told me that they are defensive of their RMT's and know what they're doing. I was initially pleased I didn't get the same manager again, but I got the same speech about how deep tissue massages work. She informed me that the massage triggered an issue I already had which explains the pain I've never had before. Which makes sense, but how can you be so frustrated with a patient, where they're telling you their on-going pain in their neck? I then told her that I was upset with the customer service I had received previously and the fact that I was never once apologized to. It wasn't until I complained about the lack of acknowledgment by the previous manager that she told me, sorry.I was never told "I'm sorry" for the experience I had, or having to wait to see a doctor to even be taken somewhat seriously by either manager. It's my body, and I was being proactive. I believe any one who felt pain after an appointment would reach out to the service providers? My doctor says there is no serious damage, and has acknowledged the tightness in my neck. It was put in my file not to see the therapist i was with again. That's it. I don't understand how i had to ask to be apologized to or have been provided the suggestions the receptionist gave. As someone who works in customer service, i am astonished that this is how they treat their customers. I wasn't expecting free services, or reimbursement - even though it was the worst way to spend $130. The treatment was awful. After spending 20/50 minutes rubbing my lower back when my neck and shoulders were knowingly my concern, she didn't listen when I told her my neck hurt, and offered me a foot massage. All in all. The service was terrible, the customer service was even worse. How long this review is probably telling you I sincerely am disappointed and irritated. Bad on you, Riverstone. That's not how you treat people with a kind demeanor and genuine concern for personal health.
Worst customer service. I booked ahead of time twice and they called me to cancel the appoitment because they dont have available people that time. Its twice happened to me and i will never go back there and i will not recommend this to anyone.
