The store is hard to navigate and it smells, but they good new and used product. once you figure out where it is, which you will be doing by yourself cause it seems the staff never leave the front desk or back room. Dont buy crickets here either, they are always dead within a few days no matter how hard you try to keep them alive. And finally the store has some of the WORST operating hours the dont open till 11:30 which is insane, Id understand if it was to come in early and care for the animals in disturbed but its not. Clearly or the fish wouldnt die so fast and the big a$$ fish up front wouldnt look like it was living in swamp water
There are bigger and even better pet stores, but this one certainly has charm. Although I adopted a cat that the store had treated poorly years ago, I have come to realize that this was an anomaly rather then the norm. The staff is knowledgeable, well meaning and kind. The pet selection is good, the supplies acceptable and the crickets are the cheapest in the city. If you purchase their cricket cards you ate basically paying less then a nickel per large cricket, which is great! Recommended in most cases.
A favourite pet shop with friendly, knowledgeable staff. Custom ordered items can be requested. Healthy fish. I've been a customer for over thirty years. Craig Street cats satellite centre. Deals in new and used aquarium supplies. Plenty of variety of pets, birds, small mammals, reptiles also available.
They have the best quality feeder fish for the best price. The ones I buy from them for my rain barrels have the best survival rate.
I had been going to Pet Traders for years before I bothered to check out their google reviews, for a locally owned business youd think theyd have more awesome reviews. Pettraders doesnt offer very much for purchasing of used items, spending over $1000 on items brand new to have to downsize abruptly and only having the store purchase them for $100. Who knows what they resell at. One of their employees constantly has ripped clothing, which isnt professional and further than just normal tears in jeans. Being casual has its limits. Theres always animals behind the counter. One time I had purchased a hood lamp that had a ton of acid wear on the outlet portion, which I didnt understand why they sold it like that. Obviously I shouldve paid more attention to what I was buying. The employees are friendly enough if you go around once in a while, but it seems like the employees dont really last very long. In the last 4 years theres been so many new faces. Its true though the counter is never cleaned, their colossal rats are usually large at most. Most of the female employees act like theyd rather be anywhere else or have an air of I know better than you so why are you asking these basic questions. Locally owned businesses are wonderful, but for quality Winnipeg reptiles is clearly the winner here, and theyre a tad overpriced as is.
